Please email us for information about any of our available volunteer opportunities. Our biggest areas of need right now are in the following areas:

At the Center:

  • Intake of cats from clients in the mornings: from 7:30 – 9:00am, this is a critical volunteer role that involves greeting clients, answering questions, helping to complete intake forms, helping to move cats from vehicles to intake area, taking payment from clients.
  • Discharge of cats to clients in the afternoons: from 4:00 – 6:00pm, this important volunteer shift involves greeting clients, answering questions, helping to move cats from the discharge area to client vehicles, taking payments from clients.
  • Data Entry of surgical records and medical notes.
  • Instrument pack preparation and cleaning: this volunteer duty is “instrumental” in ensuring that our surgical packs are cleaned, sanitized, and prepared for surgery the next day.
  • Reservation Call Backs and Reminder Calls: this volunteer role has flexible days and hours, and involves contacting clients to make reservations, confirm reservations, counsel new clients and answer questions.

In Your Neighborhood:

Would you enjoy helping a small group of outdoor cats live healthy lives without reproducing? Every day, kind people in the East Bay and throughout the United States provide care to outdoor cats. Fix Our Ferals supports spay/neuter of all neighborhood cats, followed by care and feeding.

Caring for a colony is fascinating and rewarding. Responsible care means:

  • Trap-Neuter-Return, first and foremost. Only neutered colonies can live healthy lives without outgrowing their niche in our neighborhoods.
  • Daily food and water.
  • Monitoring for any health problems that may arise.

In caring for any outdoor colony, we recommend that several people be involved so that work is distributed, and so that the cats will have more than one person to depend on.

If you would like to help care for an outdoor cat colony one day or more per week, we can help you find someone in your area who needs help.
